Banana Commentary Week Ending 5 27 2011

The dollar weakened slightly this week against bananas amidst speculation that interest rates have finally hit bottom.  Our in-house expert, The Big Banana took issue with the rumors stating flatly, “There is no connection what ever to mortgage rates and the price of bananas.” 

 When asked what the people of California could expect to see in the near future concerning the price of bananas The Big Banana said, “Who cares what happens in California?  Only one person out there slipped last week that we know of, and if he had been eating bananas instead of monkey’n around none of that would have happened.”  

Shoppers stated a general feeling of relief that the price per pound only increased a penny this week.
